Our five Sustainable Development Goals.
Lefdal Mine Data Centers supports the work of the United Nations and the Sustainable Development Goals. The 17 interlinked objectives and 169 sub-goals are designed to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. These goals serve as a common direction for countries, businesses, and civil society all around the world.
The goals aim to address the global challenges we face as businesses and individuals, including poverty, inequality, climate change, environmental degradation, peace, and justice.
Sustainable Growth
Sustainability is everybody’s business and corporate responsibility is key when aiming to make a significant impact on a global scale. At Lefdal Mine Data Centers, we care deeply about sustainable growth and are proud to be helping protect the interests of future generations.
We have prioritized five of the seventeen Sustainable Development Goals set out in the UN 2030 agenda. Furthermore, the company is committing to create annual initiatives and targets to support each of these goals.
Environment
Increase the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix by increasing the amount of MW in production from sustainable alternatives.
Enhance international cooperation by educating businesses globally about the importance and benefits of utilizing clean energy, sustainable technology, and energy-efficient solutions to reduce the world’s carbon emissions.
Extend the existing infrastructure to include recycling the waste heat from the facility for sustainable projects and enabling other industries to use environmentally sound technologies to become more sustainable.
Social
Engage with the local community, schools, and relevant programs to actively promote technical education, facilitate practical training programs, and contribute to educating future generations.
Create and maintain a diverse and inclusive culture that encompasses the elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) at the workplace.
Governance
Ensure sustainable management and efficient use of natural resources.
Reduce residual waste by 20% through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse.
Encourage suppliers and subcontractors to adopt sustainable practices and integrate sustainability information into their reporting cycle by establishing internal mechanisms for collecting ESG data as part of supplier evaluation.
Enhance global partnerships for sustainable development by establishing collaboration with partners that share a similar desire to promote sustainable IT solutions to a global market.
Encourage and promote effective public and public-private partnerships through exchanging knowledge and research within the field of High-Performance Computing (HPC).
The Norwegian Transparency Act
The Norwegian Transparency Act (Åpenhetsloven) requires companies to conduct due diligence assessments to identify, prevent, mitigate, and account for actual and potential adverse impacts on fundamental human rights and decent working conditions.
Lefdal Mine Data Centers (LMD)is committed to fulfilling these obligations through a risk-based approach to responsible business conduct across its operations and value chain.
Due diligence assessments are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Transparency Act and internationally recognised standards, including the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises on Responsible Business Conduct.
The Transparency Act also seeks to ensure public access to information regarding how companies address human rights and working condition risks. In accordance with these requirements, this report is published annually and made publicly available.
The Company will respond to requests for information concerning its due diligence assessments and responsible business practices in accordance with the provisions of the Transparency Act.
This report outlines the Company’s due diligence process, the assessments carried out during the reporting period, and the measures implemented to manage identified risks.
